Provence tourism : French gastronomy and wine tasting holidays in France

People from all over the world come to Provence to savour its celebrated gastronomy, but at Château de Berne we go one step further. As a guest at L'Auberge, you are invited to live the provencal lifestyle and take it home with you.

Gastronomic tourism in a French chateau
Château de Berne in Provence is a wine-producing estate covering 550 hectares and producing half a million bottles of wine (a wide selection of years and vintages are available on site), but the estate is also home to our four-star hotel, L'Auberge, which lies at the heart of the vineyards and the forest. L'Auberge is a luxury French hotel that blends the beauty of Provence with the elegance of France and international standards of accommodation and hospitality. To dine at L'Auberge is to indulge in a feast of the finest Provence flavours as fresh produce from the château's organic gardens and delicacies from the local markets are transformed into gourmet dishes.

Our restaurants : the southern French gastronomy
- La Farandole: Our gastronomic restaurant creates a traditional and creative cuisine which is a perfect blend of local Provencal produce and the occasional subtle hint of spice. Every day, the Chef prepares a menu inspired by the rhythm of the seasons and the chateau's kitchen garden.
- La Bouscarelle: Our Chef conjures up healthy cuisine using flavours, spices and light olive oil, with a cold buffet and spit-roasted meats.

Cookery courses : discover Provençal gastronomy
Our inspired cookery courses share the secrets and skills of gastronomic cooking and promise to take you beyond the kitchen and into the very heart of Provençal life. You can join the Cookery School for a half-day course or refine your skills over several days. Our tempting courses cater for all standards and each group is kept small and friendly to ensure you get all the help you need from professional Chef and Cookery School manager. Our courses are a perfect balance of expert instruction, hands-on experience and inspired excursions. Our Chef can show you how to select the finest ingredients from local markets and escort you to restaurants where you can sample provencal dishes. You can also visit olive oil mills and, of course, tour Château de Berne's vineyards and cellars to gain a greater appreciation of regional wines and their culinary uses.

Wine-tasting holidays in southern France
Wine making has been a way of life at Château de Berne since 1750, and 80 of the estate's 550 hectares are devoted to vineyards. From the wine to the glass, we offer to you a journey of discovery through the vineyard and the estate of the Château de Berne then through all the stages of production of our wines, from the reception area to bottling, always followed by an introduction to wine-making overseen by an expert who is passionate about wine.

- Tasting and commentary on our wines
- Guided tour of the wine cellars followed by a tasting and commentary of 3 wines
- Technical tour of the wine cellars followed by a tasting and commentary of 6 wines
- Discovery of the vineyard and the wine cellars followed by a tasting and commentary

A professional will teach you to appreciate the charms of wines from the Côtes de Provence and you will learn to compare tastes, textures and flavours.

L'Echoppe Boutique: Our shop is filled with fresh foods, regional delicacies and products from the estate and surrounding area. Among the provençal products, you will find in the shop, you can buy our own rich, fruity olive oil produced from the estate's olive trees, black truffles grown naturally on the estate's oak trees and floral honey produced by the estate's bees.

Cultural tourism in Provence
Aside from the cultural appeal of the chateau itself, the estate hosts a rich variety of cultural events and programmes throughout the year - offering guests a unique flavour of Provence: the musical arts (with jazz and world music events held throughout the summer : picnics, concerts, dinner dances), fine arts (welcoming painters and sculptors from Provence) and further afield. Other forms of Art - organising theme events dedicated to, for example, art or chocolate, or also art appreciation, with bric-a-brac and antiques sales.
