Bastide Vanado

This ancient building has been completely revisited as a traditional Provencal bastide. At the time, the bastide was a secondary dwelling for the bourgeoisie and nobility. The basic codes and architecture have been preserved, including a one-storey house with a 4-pitched roof, an odd number of windows on the main facade, French windows on the first floor and exterior courtyards.

The name Vanado, in Provençal, means the enclosure in front of the sheepfold, a space that was once dedicated to the animals. A nod to Provence, but also to the many animals that populated and still populate the Château de Berne estate.
