Whether white, red or rosé, Provence wines feature grape varieties that have become famous the world over: Syrah, Grenache or Cabernet Sauvignon for reds and rosés, Clairette, Rolle or Sémillon for whites.
The estates are spread across three major appellations: Côtes de Provence, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence and Coteaux Varois en Provence. Of these three appellations, the first, Côtes de Provence, reflects the diversity of the region, with five sub-denominations.
Provence rosé is highly appreciated abroad, so it's only natural that exports of this product should flourish. The growers have ensured that the quality of their rosés is constantly being improved, and this is still the case today, enabling Provence rosés to hold a place of choice on the world stage.
It was over 40 years ago, in 1977, that the Côtes de Provence appellation officially came under the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) label, which certifies the accuracy of the methods used and the provenance of the products used in production.
